Why it matters for skiing

Skiing is a one leg sport and it constantly tests your balance over that single loaded leg. This hold builds the hip stability and control to stay stacked and balanced when one ski is doing all the work, landing on one leg, holding a line on an edge, or catching yourself when your weight gets pulled off center. The stronger your single leg balance, the less energy you waste fighting to stay over your skis.

How to do it

  1. 1+Stand on one leg with a soft knee
  2. 2+Hinge at the hip, lowering your torso as your free leg extends behind you
  3. 3+Reach the bottom position with your body roughly parallel to the floor
  4. 4+Hold there, balanced and stable, hips square
  5. 5+Max time hold before switching sides
